Following her first election in 1995, Judge Marisela Saldaña made the transition from practicing attorney to presiding judge over Nueces County Court at Law 3. After serving three consecutive terms in County Court At Law 3, Judge Saldana was elected in 2006 to the bench of the 148th District Court. Now, in her fifteenth year, Judge Saldaña has earned a solid reputation as a firm and disciplined judge who fully understands the balance necessary to be tough but fair to all who appear before her.

 

Raised In Corpus Christi

The fifth of seven children, Judge Saldaña is the daughter of the late Luis Saldaña and the late Inez Saldaña. Judge Saldaña attended Menger Elementary, Wynn Seale Junior High School, and Ray High School. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Mary Hardin-Baylor College. With a desire to help others, Judge Saldaña accepted a position with the Department of Health and Human Services where she was the senior caseworker in the state's pilot adoption unit in San Benito, Texas.
